What I've been working on Wednesday

This weeks project was an Autumn themed record bowl. I'm really proud of this since I handpainted all the leaves on and let's just say I'm not much of a painter.  I think this piece turned out really well and would be a great fall decoration.  I plan on listing this in my etsy shop later on.

My plan is to make a themed bowl for each season.  I would love some feedback!

Could you see something like this in your home?
Would you like to see more items like this?

Please let me know!  Thanks!

Since this post is about Autumn I have joined a fall gift exchange, check it out!  It sounds like a ton of fun!

Fun-filled weekend, and new crocheted items!

I've been meaning to make a post for a few days and am finally getting around to it, unfortunately that means I have tons of stuff I want to say and post!

First off-great weekend with the fiance!  We went to Houston, TX for the Distant Worlds concert.  It was a concert put on by the Houston Symphony Orchestra and Choir and was orchestrated versions of music from the Final Fantasy video games.  My fiance has been obsessed with these games for forever and we both loooove music (especially orchestra music) so we were soooo excited that this was going to be in Houston!  We had so much fun and the music was amazing!

Earlier this week I participated in a gift swap throught the Texas etsy team and had a blast!  I had so much fun making the toys for my partners cat and dog.

Archimedes gifts were amazing, he got a handmade pillow bed and a cute matching catnip toy.  He seems to like both a lot!  These were made by Tricia over at Handmade Whimzy.

After working on swap items and enjoying some wonderful music I've been working on my weekly project and some new items for my etsy shop.  I'm going to make a separate post for those later on.

Thanks for reading!

My Blog is Carbon Neutral

Thanks to Home-Mom's post about her carbon neutral blog I found out about this program where if you make a post about this they will plant a tree for you!  According to a study the average blog with 15,000 visitors emitted approximately 8 lbs. of CO2 a year.  I don't have near that many viewers but I think it's really neat that they're doing this.  If you'd like to participate go HERE and get more information.

Na na na na na na na na...BATMAN!

This weeks project was a Batman themed record, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out :) My fiance loooooves Batman so I may be making him one in the future.

This week I'm going to finish a record bowl I've been working on. It has an autumn theme and it's going to be all handpainted.

Recently I've been working on an Autumn themed record bowl and to lend some inspiration I looked for some Autumn themed and colored items on etsy and made this treasury!

I haven't figured out all the html stuff yet so you can't click on the picture but here's the link if you'd like to look at the items more: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4c3fb40e92dc6d9182d0c653/rustic-autumn-leaves?index=0

Vintage hat...

So...this week I wanted to finish a vintage hat I had bought forever ago with the hopes of fixing. I finished it today (minus ribbon I haven't found yet) but wasn't too pleased. It looks okay but not how I had planned it to. Oh well, now I know I shouldn't work in the hat industry hahaha.

For this next week I'm not quite sure what to do. I either want to make my Batman record or Twilight Record clock. What do you think? What would you like to see next, batman or twilight?

Rice Ball...Mmmmm!

My fiance and I have been watching the anime Fruits Basket and I have absolutely fallen in love with it! The main character, Tohru, refers to herself as a rice ball and I loved it so much that I made one!

This video explains why Tohru is a rice ball. Here's my version of Tohru, the rice ball!

Music that helps to Inspire

I'm really big into music and loooove listening to it when I'm doing just about anything. So of course, when I'm doing anything crafty I've got music playing in the background. I've been trying to think of more uplifting and fun music to listen to while doing stuff in my studio.
Currently here's my playlist:

What do you listen to while you're hard at work? I would love to add some new music to my playlist so let me know what drives you to be creative!

Wednesday's Finished Artwork

Starting this week I'm going to start doing a weekly blog post on my weekly project. I have a long list of things I want to start or finish so I'm going to give myself one a week and hopefully I can get everything done :)

This week I set out to finish my Dad's birthday gift which was a Michigan themed record art
I still need a picture to fill the spot on the right but besides that it's done!! I was so pleased with how this turned out!
I embellished it with these gorgeous buttons that were cut out of cherry trees in Michigan, I got these from The Hickory Tree's etsy shop.

Record Art

My fiance got into listening to records about a year ago and since we've expanded our collection to over 150 records and are thinking about buying a second record player. It's crazy but music sounds soooo much better and I love vintage things so I love it for that also :)
So being the crafty person I am, I have since tried to find ways to turn old records into art so I've made some clocks, bowls, and wall art. Let me know what you think!

This is a record clock I made with butterflies from old sheet music and cardstock. Works perfect and has a handmade/vintage feel.

This red one is a bowl I made out of a newer record that we didn't like so I turned it into something useful!

This is the record clock we have hanging in our office. It was made out of an extra copy we had of Minus the Bear's Planet of Ice, a record we both really enjoy.

I've also made a few custom items I'll put up eventually but for now let me know what you think!

Feeling a little sluggish...

I set out to work on some scrapbooking and finish my dad's record collage but felt like being lazy, which means amigurumi time! My fiance wanted me to make this little amigurumi for his friend. I thought it turned out pretty well for a one night project. He reminded me of Gary from Spongebob Squarepants hahaha.

In other news...my fiance bought me this really cool crafty book The Crafter's Devotional and I'm really excited to get started on it tomorrow!

Mushrooms are done!

I finally finished all my amigurumi mario mushrooms for friends, aren't they so cute!

I was so excited to finally get these done so I could start working on other things. I always seem to have a huge list of projects that I want to do and never enough time to do them!
I think I'm going to tackle some scrapbooking next and then my dad's birthday gift. I'm excited about his gift since I'm decorating an old record with Michigan related things since we used to live there when I was little. I can't wait to get started!

Crafty Kitty

My cat, Archimedes, loooves laying on my scrapbook desk. Unfortunately I can't get a thing done with him on it.

Sometimes I wish life were as easy and carefree as my cats is. No work, or bills, or obligations, just plopping down wherever I feel like it. Maybe I should take a hint from him and just relax!

Welcome to my blog!

This is my first blog and my first post!

I absolutely love anything crafty and I'm always experimenting with new things. I recently learned how to crochet and have been working on various amigurumi things. I wanted to start this blog to have a place to share my creativity with others and hopefully get some feedback on my creations.
This is my biggest amigurumi so far, a stuffed totoro from the movie My Neighbor Totoro.
-I got the pattern for this from http://heavens-hellcat.livejournal.com/420.html a wonderful and easy to follow pattern.
